1° day: Airport – Reggio Calabria – Giardini Naxos
Meeting of the participants in the agreed place, accommodation in reserved GT bus and departure for Sicily. Stop in Reggio Calabria at the National Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia to see the Riace Bronzes, depicting two warriors of the 5th century B.C. Lunch. Crossing the Strait of Messina and stopping at Giardini Naxos. In the evening arrival at the hotel, accommodation in the reserved rooms, dinner and overnight stay.
2° day: Catania – Taormina
Breakfast at hotel and departure for Catania, a jewel of Baroque art and a land rich of archaeological sites. Visit of the city: Crociferi Street, defined as the most beautiful road of the eighteenth-century of Catania; the Elephant fountain, built between 1735 and 1737 by the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini, located in the center of Catania’s Piazza del Duomo and emblem of the city. Continuation of the visit with: the Church of San Francesco, the Benedictine Monastery, the Church of Santa Chiara, the Teatro Comunale, the Villetta d’Ercole and Via Etnea. Lunch. In the afternoon excursion to Taormina, a Byzantine city that everyone loves for its terraces overlooking the sea. Visit of the city: the Greek Theater, the Gothic Cathedral, the Palazzo Corvaia, Piazza V. Emanuele and Piazzale San Domenico. In the evening, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3° day: Siracusa – Noto
Breakfast at hotel and departure for Syracuse, the most beautiful of the Greek cities. Visit to the archaeological area that contains the Latomie del Paradiso, the Ear of Dionysius, the Roman Amphitheater, the Greek Theater and the Duomo. Lunch. In the afternoon departure for Noto, a city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Baroque capital: the Church of San Domenico, the Cathedral Basilica of San Nicolò, the Church of SS. Crucifix and the Church of San Carlo al Corso. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
4° day: Agrigento – Piazza Armerina
Breakfast at hotel and next departure for Agrigento. Visit to the famous Valley of the Temples, an archaeological area characterized by the exceptional state of conservation and a series of important temples of the Hellenic period. The Valley corresponds to the ancient Akragas, a monumental original nucleus of the city of Agrigento. Lunch and transfer to Piazza Armerina, for a visit to the Villa Romana del Casale, a late-Roman rural dwelling that since 1997 is part of the World Heritage Sites. Return to the hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight stay.
5° day: Messina – Airport
Breakfast at hotel, release of the reserved rooms and departure for the return. Stop along the way to Messina for the visit of the city: the Duomo, the bell tower, the Astronomical clock and the beautiful Fountain of Orion. Lunch and transfer in airport.
