SOUTH ITALY

Day 1: Rome airport – Rome
Arrival in Rome. Transfer to the Hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Rome
Guided city tour, including entrance to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel; visit to St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the amazing Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Optional walking tour: the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and other sites of medieval Rome. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento
Visit Pompeii, the Roman city destroyed by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Your local guide will walk you past patrician homes, public baths and commercial districts strikingly recalling day-to-day life when Rome was at the apex of power. Continue to the charming resort of Sorrento. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Excursion to Capri
Speed across the bay by jetfoil to the Isle of Capri. Ride the funicolar to Capri village for a guided visit of this pretty town. Free time to explore the little shops on the piazzetta before returning to Sorrento. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Sorrento – Naples – Sorrento
Naples guided tour: the National Archaeological Museum, the city center with Triumphal Arch of the New Castle, St. Charles Theater, the Royal Palace, Galleria Umberto and Piazza Plebiscito. Then, visit splendid Reggia di Capodimonte. Back in Sorrento, gelato demonstration and tasting. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Sorrento – Trani – Alberobello
Stop in Trani, where a special lunch with local specialties awaits you at a seaside restaurant. Continue to the picturesque town of Alberobello, where you will stay for the next two nights. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Alberobello – Ostuni – Alberobello
Explore the town of Alberobello, famous for its unique trulli, whitewashed dry stone circular houses with pinnacled, conical roofs. Optional excursion to Ostuni and optional dinner at a traditional Apulian agriturismo. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Alberobello – Matera – Naples
Matera guided walking tour: visit to one of the picturesque Sassi Houses. Return to Naples. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Naples – Naples airport
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
