Day 1: Florence
Arrival to Florence airport and private transfer to the hotel 4* in Florence, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Florence
Breakfast, meeting with our local guide in the hall of the hotel, departure by private bus to visit Florence city centre. Visit to: the Academy to see Michelangelo’s David and the Prisoners; the Cathedral Square, unique complex of buildings (Duomo, Baptistery and Bell tower; the Baptistery, one of the city’s most ancient religious buildings; the beauty of its doors moved Michelangelo to call them “the Gates of Paradise”! We continue the visit with the main square, Piazza Signoria, the Palazzo Vecchio (the Old Palace), the Uffizi Gallery, with its unrivalled collection of Renaissance art. Lunch and walking tour along the Arno River to admire the famous Ponte Vecchio, the only bridge on the Arno that wasn’t destroyed in World War II. Continue the visit with the Franciscan church of Santa Croce, known as “the Pantheon of the Italian Glories”, because there are so many monumental tombs of great personalities of the past such as Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Machiavelli, Rossini. At the end you can relax with free time in a shopping area. Come back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Pisa – Lucca
Breakfast, meeting with our local guide in the hall of the hotel, departure by private bus for Pisa to visit the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, with the celebrated Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and cathedral. Lunch in a typical restaurant. During the afternoon excursion to Lucca the elegant and refined tuscany town, where you will discover its charme walking along its famous sixteen century walls, then entering into the enchanting historical centre you will have the chance to admire the amazing Piazza Anfiteatro, the Torre Giunigi, the Duomo di San Martino and the typical “antique dealers’ street”. Come back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chianti – San Gimignano
Breakfast, meeting with our local guide in the hall of the hotel, departure by private bus for Chianti hills, a beautiful region famous for its excellent red wine. Starting from the north, take the Via Chiantigiana (SS222) and stop in Greve in Chianti to explore its peculiar shaped square and all of the shops in its perimeter. Visit the Wine Museum to taste over 200 wine labels of the region, continue along to Panzano in Chianti, stopping to walk along its ancient city streets and take pictures of the hamlet, then on to Castellina in Chianti to walk around the small center and through the city walls. Wine tasting in this region is obligatory, there are wine shops in each town, but also signs along the road will signal wineries and their shops where you can taste that estate’s wines. From Castellina you will reach San Gimignano, a tiny city that has remained intact through the centuries. Situated on a hilltop, it is famous for its numerous towers, frescoes and other art treasures. Come back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Siena – Monteriggioni
Breakfast, meeting with our escort in the hall of the hotel, departure by private bus for Siena, one of the leading art cities in Tuscany and a place which has managed to preserve carefully its medieval character. You will visit: the San Domenico Church, frequented for its venerated relics of Saint Catherine, patron saint of Italy and Europe; Piazza del Campo, the unrivalled center of vivid city life. Here our guide explains the rules and tricks of the Palio, Siena’s breathtaking bareback horse race and at the end of morning stop at the beautiful Dom of the city. Just outside of Siena, the charming walled castle of Monteriggioni offers another trip into medieval times. The small castle still stands with 15 towers along the walls. You can visit the small castle, but don’t forget to climb and walk along the massive walls from where you’ll admire great views over the Tuscan countryside. Come back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Florence
Breakfast and departure by private bus for Florence airport.
